EverQuest Updates for March 15, 2023

*** Highlights ***

– Starting March 16, seek out the Mechanical Fortune Teller in the Plane of Knowledge for new quests and a mission for the 24th anniversary.
– The Banestrike ability has been overhauled, see the AA section for more information.

*** Items ***

– Bows available in Night of Shadows should now grant the appropriate Alternate Advancement ability when right-clicked.
– Corrected heroic intelligence stat on Ossified Eye of the Eelworm.
– Phantasmal and Spectral Luclinite Poleaxes have had their base damage and delay adjusted.
– Corrected an issue where some Night of Shadows chest armors had wrong click recourse effects.
– Metamorph Wand – Brownie, found in the Marketplace, has now been replaced with a version that will always match the previews seen on the item and Marketplace when cast.

– Correct an error in the paper used for Song: Warsong of the Vah Shir.

*** Quests & Events ***

– Under Siege (raid) – the chest will no longer be affected by the loot lockout.
– Exiting When One Door Opens will now place you near Animist Khalan.
– Narius’ Plan: Made a speculative fix to the bug where sometimes the zone inhabitants run to one point near the entry.
– Dance of the Demiurge: The Altered Gods achievement will not longer automatically be completed.
– When One Door Closes (mission) – corrected an “it’s” and made it an “its”.
– When One Door Closes (raid) – the monstrosity will now fully use the power of its cockatrice form.
– When One Door Closes (raid) – the chest will no longer be affected by the loot lockout.
– The Challenger of Night of Shadows achievement now auto-grants its weapon augment reward when completed.
– Animist Soren will now send anyone that is in the Deepshade expedition into the instance.
– The Night of Shadows Raid achievement, Myconid Mutiny: All That Glitters, now uses the word supervisor instead of MINI.
– Several Night of Shadows Mission and Raid achievements now correctly reference Shar Vahl, Divided, Ruins of Shadow Haven, and Deepshade: The Artist.
– Fixed an issue with Vasella Fireblood spamming Screeching Flames more often than intended.
– Deepshade and Firefall Pass raids now have base population.
– The Slayer Skill achievement for dispatching Dark Elves has been renamed “Love Will Teir Them Apart”.

– Corrected an issue that prevented large models, such as high level Troll Beastlord pets, from being shrunk.
– Wizard – Made several changes to the Wildmagic Strike line of spells.
– – Corrected the descriptions of all ranks so they are explicit about what component spells they can cast and the chances of casting those spells.
– – Renamed all ranks of the component spells to Pure Wildmagic, Chaotic Wildfire, and Wildice Cascade.
– – Added damage to all ranks of Pure Wildmagic, Chaotic Wildfire, and Wildice Cascade.
– – Marked early ranks of Pure Wildmagic No-Twincast to match the level 100+ spells. Base spells can still be twincast.
– – Increased the effectiveness of all Irae Faycite Shards that focus Pure Wildmagic.
– – Corrected a bug that prevented the Irae Faycite Shard that focused Wildmagic Burst from working correctly.

– The Banestrike ability has been overhauled in order to provide a more consistent and appreciable power increase as well as reduce zone latency caused by its previous functionality.
– – Rather than periodically dealing direct damage to your target, based on its race, Banestrike now provides you a 2, 4, 7, and 10% increase to the base power of your beneficial and detrimental spells, songs, and combat abilities, as well as base melee damage.
– Removed the following AA ranks due to the removal of static level cap requirements, which resulted in those ranks having no functional improvements over previous ranks
– – Archetype: Gift of Mana: Ranks 4 – 13
– – Archetype: Focus of Arcanum: Ranks 5 – 8
– – Class: Enchanter: Gracious Gift of Mana: Ranks 2 – 4

– Updated the target level check on ranks 2 – 6 of the Necromancer Class AA, Fear Storm so that it can now hit targets 1 level less than the casters current level or lower
– Increased the max crit damage on rank 10 (previously rank 22) of the Wizard Class AA, Improved Familiar to 35%
– The following Night of Shadows: Mission achievements now correctly grant new AA ranks of Hero’s Vitality, Hero’s Fortitude, and Hero’s Resolution. Additionally, players who previously completed these achievements have been retroactively granted their rewards.

– Restless Wolf Saddle is now available to claim on servers that have unlocked Shadows of Luclin.
– Randomized Loot servers: Changed the randomized loot table used by Zi-Thuuli of the Granite Claw.
– Restricted the Level Cap server reward: In-Game Item: Bag of Currency to Vaniki and Live servers.
– The Level Capped server achievements that offer currency are now account-wide achievements. These are specifically Challenge: Defeat Cragbeast Queen, Challenge: Defeat Pallorax the Soul Slayer, Challenge: Defeat Innoruuk, the Prince of Hate, Challenge: Defeat Vishimtar the Fallen, and Challenge: Defeat Tantor.

*** Miscellaneous ***

– Added a Plane of Knowledge book to Shadeweaver’s Tangle.
– Removed tribute costs while in fast camp zones.
– Added usage information to the /consent and /deny commands and updated them to accept the ‘fellowship’ keyword.
– Added the /autoconsent command to update your character’s AutoConsent INI values.
– Added a prompt to the Plane of Knowledge stone for The Great Divide which allows the adventurer to choose between going to the original zone or the one specifically for Torment of Velious.

Qindaar is Wrapping Up Kunark

Qindaar is enjoying playing EverQuest and completing all the hunter quests in each zone! Kunark has a lot of interesting quests, so it’s definitely worth exploring and finishing them.

As Qindaar wraps up the hunter quests in Kunark, he is considering moving on to the next zone, depending on their level and gear. Some popular zones after Kunark include Velious and Luclin, but there are many other zones to explore as well.

Once Qindaar reaches a point where he cannot solo he will use the guild or group to help with some of the more challenging quests or to find other players to play with. This can make the game more fun and rewarding and can also help with leveling up and acquiring new gear.

Thanks to my great buddy Vmalice, Qindaar has new upgraded armor.  With this new armor we will head of to ToV and pick up new Augmentations for it to give it more of a boost.

Hunter of Veeshan’s Peak

Qindaar completed the Hunter of Veeshan’s Peak today.  The Magma Basilisk took over a week to spawn, but he was finally killed off today.  Qindaar still has two more tasks to finish in that line of progression, Field of Bone and Veksar.  Qindaar will probably start Veksar this weekend.with 24 MoBs to find and kill.

Qindaar and the Hunters of Kunark Progression Line

Been working hard on the Kunark Hunters progression series.  Qindaar has for more to accomplish to have completed all the quests.

The Field of Bone seems to be the hardest, with a very long and rare spawn rate.  Suggestions have been to take e allow level toon in and train the entire zone and then use Qindaar to obliterate them all and then watch for the named spawns.  The spawn rare is so fast for the placeholders that it is impossible to keep up and the spawn holder is not necessarily the same each time.

Beside Field of Bones, he still has Veeshaans Peak, Veksar and Warslicks Woods to accomplish.  Hopefully by mid-March I will have completed them,

– Under Siege (Mission & Raid): Added a message when someone is summoned by the Akheva for trying to avoid the fight. Also, they will be less tolerant of enemies trying to flee down the tunnel.
– Mean Streets (Raid): Increased time available to defeat Jakasharev’s illusions. Fixed an issue that could lock Jakasharev’s hit points if all illusions were defeated in the final stages.
– Changed the minimum level on all Night of Shadow quests to 100.
– Increased the amount of Tower Keys dropped by Korafax and Tower of Discord raids in Seeds of Destruction by an additional 50%.
– Leaving an instance in a group will now prioritize keeping the group together over going over the zone population cap if the zone is a /pickzone.
– Beltron the Shade King (Raid): Beltron will no longer try to cast Touch of Shadows and Icy Clutch at the same time.
– Carrion My Wayward Sprout (Quest): Corrected an issue that prevented the Undead Essence Extractor from working as expected.
– When attempting to initiate a raid when at least one member already has a lockout from that raid, the raid leader can choose to enter anyways upon confirming to accept the lockout(s) being applied.
– Fixed several Agent of Change instances in Planes of Power where minibosses were giving erroneous replay timers. An example is Gryme the Crypt Guardian in the Plane of Disease.
– Removed the ‘Taromani’s Blessing’ achievement as it was no longer obtainable.
– Myconid Mutiny (Raid): Augments will not longer appear on the corpses of the workers.

– Corrected an issue where item procs that scale by level were using the player’s level instead of the item spell’s level. In general this caused older items to do more damage than intended, and newer items to do less damage than intended.

– Added Zi-Thuuli of the Granite Claw back to randomized loot on random loot servers.
– Altered the release schedule for Coirnav in anticipation of the server merge in July.

Hunter Quests and New Characters

Now that Qindaar is level 120 I thought it would be a good time to go back and relive some all zones.  There is no better way than to look at the progression tabs.  I decided I would attempt to do all the Hunters Quests starting in Kunark.

I found that doing them alone with Qindaar was difficult and to find others to do such low level zones was also just as difficult I created several new Characters to help.  A ranger for tracking and a Rogue for Lockpicking.  Between these two I have managed to get through quite a few Quests so far.

It is very time consuming and at times very aggravating waiting for spawns or even triggering them.  I found Field of Bones impossible after spending a month running around there.

I am currently in the Swamp of No Hope with four named to still get out of thirty none.  Just four in the Froglock Berserker line.  I expect another three weeks at best before I get the last of them.

– Reduced the level of the following spells (all ranks) by 10 levels. Cure Corruption, Resist Corruption, Shared Purity, Expunge Corruption, Chant of the Napaea, Wishka’s Favor, Absolve, Minohten’s Purifying Panpipes, and Staccato Rhythms.
– The spell “Protection of the Primal Spirits” now has its Absorb DoT damage effect in spell slot 7 instead of spell slot 3.

– Shadow Knight – Added a new rank to Dark Lord’s Unity (Azia and Beza) that casts Impenitent Demeanor.
– Necromancer – Added a new rank to Mortifier’s Unity that casts Flesh to Toxin.
