Here is a practical Live-server leveling zone chart from 1 to 130. It is built for a character using a mercenary, a small group, or a box team—not a TLP server—and it gives you several choices in each range so you can favor Hero’s Journey questing, faster grinding, or a nostalgic zone.
From levels 1–75, check Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge for the current hot-zone task for your bracket; hot-zone rotations can change, so use the chart as your reliable zone menu and let Teek determine the best bonus-XP choice that day.[hammackj]

Hero’s Journey route
If your main goal is to continue the Hero’s Journey, use this simplified route rather than jumping between every fastest-XP zone:
Level
Hero’s Journey zone
1–20
Crescent Reach
21–35
Blightfire Moors
36–45
The Stone Hive
41–55
Goru’kar Mesa
56–60
Blackfeather Roost
61–70
The Steppes
65–75
Sunderock Springs
70–75
Vergalid Mines
70–80
The Buried Sea and Dragonscale Hills
75–83
Loping Plains; Oceangreen Hills/Village; Blackburrow
80–85
Field of Scale and Kaesora
Hero’s Journey’s intended leveling-and-quest track effectively ends around level 85. After that point, follow the modern expansion sequence: House of Thule, Veil of Alaris, Rain of Fear, Call of the Forsaken, The Darkened Sea, Empires of Kunark, Ring of Scale, The Burning Lands, Torment of Velious, Terror of Luclin, Night of Shadows, Laurion’s Song, The Outer Brood, and Shattering of Ro.[hammackj][paullynch]
Practical leveling rules
At level 20, speak with Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge and take the hot-zone task matching your current bracket. The task is normally “kill five” specified mobs, and the designated hot zone has bonus XP.[hammackj]
At level 51, begin spending or auto-granting Alternate Advancement abilities. Gold accounts can use Auto-Grant for many AAs; the AA window is opened with V.[everquest.allakhazam]
At level 75, add Gribble’s Dead Hills missions—Into the Hills, Scouting Ahead, and Disrupting the Ritual—to your regular routine until 105. Their completion XP is especially efficient.[hammackj]
At levels 111–115, prioritize Torment of Velious completion and missions. This is one of the best experience stretches before the modern cap.[hammackj]
Keep your gear within approximately one expansion of your current content. The later expansions assume current group-level gear much more than the early leveling zones do.[hammackj]/
